Former Death Row Records owner Marion "Suge" Knight continues to generate headlines over the weekend, now calling out the recent publicized 2Pac holographic Coachella performance.
While not pointing fingers at any one particular person, Knight said his gripe is with a missing element from last weekend's set.
Suge Knight is FURIOUS over the look of 2Pac's hologram at Coachella ... telling TMZ the people who created it screwed up one major detail. The rapper was out in Los Angeles last night when he pointed out that the 3D hologram used to bring 2Pac to life on stage was missing the rapper's famous Death Row Records chain. Knight told us, "At the end of the day, how you gonna take the Death Row chain off Pac? That's like taking the Raiders symbol off the Raiders." (TMZ)
This comes shortly after Knight considered the possibility of Pac still being alive.
"Maybe the question is ... Pac's not really dead ... Pac's somewhere else," Knight said in an interview. "Nobody seen Tupac dead. ... The person who supposedly cremated Tupac ... this guy got about 3 million dollars .. personally from me ... cash ... and next thing I know I never heard from the guy or seen him again ... he retired and left." (KDAY)
In 2010, a hoax video emerged online showing Knight getting arrested for the murder of Pac.
A video circulating on YouTube (see below) begins with footage from an Fox 11 News Los Angeles evening news broadcast. The TV anchor is well known to LA residents as evening news anchor. In the video, aninterview is conducted about an "October" documentary regarding thedeath of Tupac Shakur. Then, suddenly the video cuts to KTLA's Morning News. If you look, you can even see the time stamp on the broadcast as shortly after 8 am PST. That KTLA news clip shows Knight being arrested. But the viewer is not told that the arrest is for a different matter unrelated to Shakur. The video is a fake. Knight has not been arrested for the murder of Tupac. (LA Late)
Despite Suge's issue, ex-Death Row Records producer Dr. Dre recently talked about putting together the Coachella performance.
While nothing has been made official, Dre said, "I think everybody's in love with it right now. We're having fun." The rapper-producer noted that the current technology only allows for flat projections that appear three-dimensional from the front, but he said he's "working on some new and different things for the future." He also mentioned how he hopes other artists will be able to bring out their favorites in hologram form: "Hopefully we can see Jimi Hendrix and Marvin Gaye . . . Let's see what happens." Following the success of the performance, there's been plenty of talk about the possibility of taking the Tupac hologram on tour. (Rolling Stone)
