Bad Boy Records' Machine Gun Kelly and singer Skylar Grey received some mainstream attention over the weekend by coming out to introduce fighter John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII, held in Miami.
Rapper Flo Rida also touched down at the event and backed up long-time WWF legend and wrestler, The Rock.
Machine Gun Kelly provided the soundtrack for John Cena's entrance at WrestleMania XXVIII at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Sunday. Following an introduction from his Bad Boy boss Diddy, the Cleveland rapper raged on stage with his WWE theme song "Invincible," accompanied by a newly blonde Skylar Grey, who filled in for Ester Dean. Flo Rida also delivered his hits "Good Feeling" and "Wild Ones" as WrestleMania champ The Rock entered the ring. (Rap-Up)
MGK also took to his Twitter page to update fans on the live moment.
"Just had a pre-show shot of moonshine with the big homie @JohnCena. The Rock's fans can boo us all they want but this is the underdog's year," he tweeted April 1st.
"This is about to be the biggest 1 minute and 30 seconds of my career so far...I'm thinking of all you guys right now. Be proud. Lace Up!!!"
"That was seriously surreal...my mentor introduced me and we're fighting for the underdog." (Machine Gun Kelly's Twitter)
Prior to his match, Cena talked about having MGK introduce him at the televised bout.
"You can tell he's hungry. I think that's when your true love for hip-hop shows, when you're hungry enough to put your heart and soul into a track, into a record," he said. "I met this kid in person, the music does him justice. The kid's hungry, man. He's gonna be at WrestleMania and I'm happy for him. Hopefully he can keep the momentum going." (MTV)
Recently, Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man dished out his respect for The Rock, who defeated Cena last night.
"I got so many, man. I can tell you where I get my showmanship from, what expires my showmanship on stage. Ralph Tresvant from New Edition. Great showman. Busta Rhymes. The Rock, from WWE. The way he used to cut promos--dude was like the truth when he cut promos, man," Method Man said in an interview. "Nobody can take that away from him. A lot of my stuff I get from WWE--a lot of my inspiration. Even though people know all the moves aren't real and sh*t, it's the way they sell them that makes it official. That's how I feel about my sh*t; if I can sell it, then no matter what I say, it's going to sound hot." (Global Grind)
