Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music roster now has a solid veteran presence with reports claiming A Tribe Called Quest's Q-Tip is the latest signee.

Tip broke the unexpected announcement Wednesday (April 11) morning via a statement.

"I'm excited to be a part of the great iconic Def Jam label," said Q-Tip. "I'm humbled to be a part of such a storied history. To reconnect with Barry Weiss is a great thing. As far as G.O.O.D. Music, I'm excited to solidify my working relationship with Kanye, and I look forward to all the opportunities that lie ahead in our partnership. I will do my best to present the most cutting edge music I can." (Statement)

Prior to the statement, bloggers like former XXL Magazine editor in chief Elliott Wilson revealed the news.

"It's official: Q-Tip signs to G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam. #Queens," he tweeted Wednesday. (Elliott Wilson's Twitter)

No stranger to working with veteran acts, Yeezy inked rapper Mos Def to G.O.O.D. Music in 2010.

The Brooklyn MC and West talk about the deal and break down their musical relationship in the October issue of XXL, which comes out on Tuesday and features a Kanye cover story. And Mos Def makes an appearance on West's G.O.O.D. Friday single "Lord, Lord, Lord," along with Swizz Beatz, Raekwon and singer Charlie Wilson. Mos' decision to join G.O.O.D. Music follows the release of his last album, The Ecstatic, on indie label Downtown Records in 2009. The rapper/actor and Kanye first collaborated on the Chicago MC's College Dropout, for "Two Words," and then again on "Drunk and Hot Girls." (MTV)

Recently, producer Mannie Fresh hinted at a possible deal with Ye's team.

"Well, we working that out. I'm kind of funny about signing with people. Dude, I've been through so much," Mannie said in an interview. "And I'm not saying I think Kanye is a bad person, but I can't tell you what that is right now. It's really on me, and what space I'm in. I'm not saying that I wouldn't do it, but it's gotta be something that makes sense for me." (Hip Hop DX)
