Rap newcomer Iggy Azalea has responded to a recent swipe courtesy of one-time Ruff Ryders artist Eve, saying she does not take offense by the rapper's inability to understand her style.

Rather than lash out at Eve, Iggy took a more mature and understanding approach with her response.

"I like Eve," she began. "Everybody is different, everybody hasn't lived out of the box and for you to even know if it's real, you have to kind of be an out-the-box person or somebody who likes something they're not suppose to [like]. A girl like her that raps is expected, so, how could you understand something so different? I'm not mad at [Eve] for not understanding it. How could you if you've never been ostracized or loved something you weren't suppose to love? Everything you've loved you're allowed to love, so, how could you understand me? Thus, how could you know if it's real? I used to be like, 'It is real, let me prove it to you. Now, I don't care if you think it's real or not because it's what I love, it's my life. I don't put my story all out there for you because I don't need to put my story out there and prove it. I don't give a fuck if you think I am or not 'cause that girl in the crowd understand it and that's who it's for, if you don't then it's not for you." (XXL Mag)

She also commented on the recent negative heat directed at her courtesy of music newcomer Azealia Banks.

"Females are competitive like that and that's how it is," she said matter-of-factly. "I'm sure if I was the best sprinter in the world, all the other sprinters would hate me and I would hate them, too. It's the same thing-- it's competition, it's women. I don't take offense to it. I don't wake up thinking about another woman. I think about what I am going to do to make sure my career has longevity because that's my only job. I just think about that, not who can be doing my job better than me --no one can, because I'm the only one that can be me and they're the only ones who can be them." (XXL Mag)

Last week, the former first lady of Ruff Rider's offered her take on both hip-hop artists.

I like Azealia Banks. I think her style is dope. If you listen to her lyrics, she knows how to wordplay and I think that's cute. I'm not really into the Iggy Azalea chick. I can't really f*ck with her music, but her look is crazy. I just can't believe it." (Women of Hip Hop)

A few weeks ago, DJ Drama hit up SOHH and gave his take on Iggy's current buzz.

"I definitely think Iggy has a lot to prove as a new artist," Drama told SOHH. "I'm interested in her, I've seen some of her music videos as well as her music and I think there's definitely some stuff I like. I think it's going to be a very interesting year as far as what she's going to accomplish and what she'll be able to accomplish. I actually started paying attention to her last year. I think she has a lot of potential and she's a very nice person from my interaction with her. I think she has a great story behind her. I wish her the best and look forward to working with her. I think she definitely has the potential to make quality music so don't be surprised if she's on [my upcoming album] Quality Street Music." (SOHH)
