Philadelphia rapper Eve recently offered her take on the past war of words between Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj, admitting the Queen Bee paved a lane for her to follow.
At the end of the day, Eve believes Kim simply wants some respect from Nicki.
"It's not about publicity. It's about wanting that respect," Eve said in an interview. "I think maybe that's where Kim is coming from, like, you're doing your thing right now and no one can take that away from you, Nicki--we all see it--but at the end of the day, if it wasn't for Kim, she wouldn't be here and that sh*t is real." In February, Kim addressed speculation suggesting Minaj's "Stupid H*e" was directed toward her.
"I didn't even know, who is that, who?," Kim playfully said when asked for her opinion on Minaj's Grammy Awards performance. "[How do I feel about 'Stupid H*e?] I'm pretty sure I feel the same way everybody else feels right about now. [laughs] You know. If you have to make a song called 'Stupid H*e,' you must be a stupid h*e." ("Watch What Happens Live")
Following the song's December release, speculation grew on who Minaj actually targets.
Two weeks after dropping "Roman in Moscow," the first single off "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" (Feb. 14), Nicki Minaj's alter ego Roman Zolanski returns to fires shots on her newest song, "Stupid Hoe." "B*tch talkin' she the queen when she looking like lab rat," Minaj raps in the beginning of "Stupid H*e." Is Minaj talking about Lil Kim, also known as the Queen Bee? The shots carry throughout the song, as Minaj transitions from rhyming to singing and back again, "Stupid hoe is my enemy/ Stupid hoe is so wack/ Stupid hoe should have be-friended/ Then she could have probably came back." Sonically, the new track sounds quite similar to "I Get Crazy," a cut off Minaj's last mixtape, "Beam Me Up Scotty." (The Juice)
Last year, Kim blamed Minaj's decision to swagger jack her style for sparking their beef.
"This is the thing: It's just, it's really, like, at the end of the day, I do what I have to do, and I'm gonna keep doing what I have to do," Kim said in an interview. "I'm gonna do me. They're the ones that brought this about. It could have been that simple. But what they did was underestimate me. They thought I was gonna sit back and let them do what they were doing. I'm gonna let everybody know: I'm on my Hollywood sophisticated, but I'll bring it back if I have to. And that's in life. I can't help it. I'm G'd up from my feet up. If I have to handle my business, I'mma handle my business. And I have to fight for my fans." (MTV)
