With the Diggy Simmons and J. Cole feud buzz quickly losing steam, G-Unit's DJ Whoo Kid has offered his take on when keeping it real goes wrong.
Laughing off any notion of seriousness behind the so-called beef, Whoo Kid pointed out how most feuds stem from personal issues.
"People always look at lyrics but lyrics got to have personal touches on it. Right now, the funniest sh*t I ever seen is J. Cole versus Diggy. I thought it was April Fool's but like here we go again with the personal bullsh*t. Fact that there's some so called rumor that J. Cole banged his sister and then came out five months later with a diss record, I don't know what it's coming to but we didn't have Twitter, we didn't have all this craziness back then," Whoo Kid said in an interview. "It wasn't being utilized the way it was then like it is now. Now you got pictures, photos, people getting knocked out. You got web sites, World Star, there's so much ways of degrading an artist and it's almost kinda like scary. Even to this day, I'm more scared of getting robbed on camera then anything. I'd rather somebody rob me on the low or keep it on the hush. I don't want no visuals." (VIBE)
Last week, Diggy came forward to explain his leaked "What You Say To Me" diss track towards Cole.
"[There's] no big story behind it, it was really just that my sister [Vanessa] over a year ago told me that [J. Cole] was saying that he did this, that and third with her, 'cus the went to the same college, but they didn't really know each other like that, so it wasn't like that," he said. "She also told me that he subliminally talked about her in a song called 'Purple Rain,' which was also false. So it was just me sticking up for my family, that's all that it really was. I didn't even leak it, it got leaked last night while I was at the movies...I did that record last year...I was gonna put it out, but I didn't feel like it was appropriate, but of course, that's my sister...family over everything. [My dad Reverend Run] had already heard the track and he was like the same thing: 'Family over everything, that's your sister,' so he wasn't mad at all." (99.1 FM)
A couple days prior, the rapper's father also backed up his son's decision to make the track.
"J Cole.. Puts out 2 records Dissing family & Diggy & nobody cared.. Some1 leaks a old Diggy record & there's a problem?," he tweeted April 1st. (Reverend Run's Twitter)
Diggy's new "What You Say To Me" diss landed online, coincidentally on April's Fools Day.
"The other day I was listening to 'Purple Rain,' couldn't believe all of the things that I heard em say/Who dat, who dat, you know who it is, heard you lying on my sis, tellin people that you hit when your album drops I'ma hit you with your bricks, so I'ma bomb first on you since you wanna riff/Who you gonna call, you ain't got no friends, this fight is fixed, you ain't got no wins/Little n*gga named Cole think he live like me, jet setter trend setter, yeah you not like me/Can't find a girl that you know that do not like me, can't find a girl I know, who know you, you dumb fool/Wasn't even poppin' in the school you used to go to."
