Friday, Mar 9, 2012 11:05AM
Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka, may just have to watch his back when traveling through North Carolina these days, with reports claiming his security team is banned from entering the state.
As details continue to gather, reports claim Waka has received a cease and desist letter from the North Carolina Protective Services Board.
In the letter, the NC Board cites a tour bus incident in Charlotte, NC last year -- when members of Waka's entourage opened fire on cars after being shot at ... an incident that resulted in at least two arrests. Now, NC ain't taking any chances -- refusing to allow ANY members of Waka's entourage to engage in private or protective security services while Waka's in the Tar Heel State. If they fail to comply, the NC Protective Services Board promises to file criminal charges. Sources close to the rapper tell TMZ, the NCPSB is merely trying to harass them -- insisting they have the right to self-defense like anyone else. We're told Waka and his team are currently exploring their legal options. (TMZ)
In February 2011, six men were arrested for their suspected involvement in a North Carolina shooting targeted at Waka Flocka.
Andre Sellers, Antoine Washington, Xavier Hoover, David Bellamy, Barry Lawrence and Antonio Stukes are all being charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and two counts of felony shooting into occupied property. All are under at least $200,000 bond. Some face additional charges. Police say the men were trying to rob rapper Waka Flocka Flame of his jewelry, while his tour bus got a sound system upgrade at a store on Independence Blvd. on Wednesday. Members of the rapper's security team fired at the men who shot at the bus. (WCNC News)
While initially claiming Waka was not the target, further reports suggested the botched robbery was motivated by the rapper's chain.
RumorFix has learned exclusively that the gunmen who opened fire on Waka Flocka Flame's tour bus on Wednesday were after his $1.2 million necklace. Waka's publicist, Kali Bowyer, tells RumorFix exclusively, "We are pleased with the attentiveness by the Charlotte Police Department in capturing these individuals in such a timely manner. It is such a shame that one would risk the lives of innocent women and children in hopes of stealing one's jewelry." (RumorFix)
On a lighter note, the ATL rapper is currently featured in a PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) campaign.
Atlanta-based Brick Squad hip-hop artist Waka Flocka Flame never stops when it comes to raising awareness about animal protection. In advance of his sophomore album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family, Waka earns a "Round of Applause" from animals everywhere for his second PETA ad, which is aimed at stopping chaining, fighting, and other abuse of dogs. Waka's adorable co-star in the ad is Daphna, a rescued dog from the Atlanta Humane Society who is named after PETA's vice president of cruelty investigations. (Crunk & Disorderly)
