Young Money rapper Tyga's smile may be a bit brighter these days with new reports claiming mega retailers Best Buy and Target are once again carrying his new Careless World LP on their store shelves.
According to reports, fans can march down to their local Targets and Best Buys and pick-up the rapper's new Young Money release.
Best Buy and Target are back to selling Tyga's album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King. After Carolyn Aberman, Best Buy's Public Relations Senior Manager, confirmed with XXLMag.com that Tyga's album has been re-shelved in stores last Thursday (March 1), XXLMag.com has learned that Target too has re-shelved the LP. "Target can confirm that we've removed the original version of Tyga's new album, Careless World, from all Target stores and Target.com," said Target rep Courtney Foster in a recent statement sent to XXLMag.com. "We have ordered the new version of his album and are currently stocking this new version in our stores nationwide and on Target.com." (XXL Mag)
In late February, the album was yanked off shelves due to a sample clearance issue.
XXLMag.com learned that Best Buy and Target, two of the nation's largest retailers, pulled Careless World after originally stocking it in their stores on Tuesday (Feb. 21), the LP's release date. "We did carry the album, but we pulled it due to the content had not been cleared by the Martin Luther King estate," Carolyn Aberman, Best Buy's Public Relations Senior Manager, told XXLMag.com. Aberman is referring to an uncleared sample from Martin Luther King's famous, "I Have A Dream" speech that plays at the end of the title track, "Careless World." Tyga fans also tweeted in fury about not being able to purchase the album at Target. One fan even posted a picture of Target's Tyga disclaimer on their timeline. The Target sign reads, "Due to a manufacturer product recall, the Tyga: Careless World CD that is featured in this week's ad will not be available. We apologize for any inconvenience. Rain checks are not available." (XXL Mag)
Prior to his denials, initial reporting claimed sample clearances would hurt the physical album's release.
Well it looks like massive electronic retailers like Best Buy may not be putting the album out this coming Tuesday. Apparently the title track to the album, 'Careless World,' features samples from the late Martin Luther King that have not been authorized. It also seems that Martin Luther King's estate have asked that the albums be pulled from retail shelves and sent back to Tyga's label, Universal Music Group. (This Beat Goes)
Despite the negative press, his album still managed to snag a Top 5 opening week spot.
