Six-time Grammy-award winning country singer, Taylor Swift, may be showing signs of her recovery from the unforgettable Kanye West interruption at the 2009 Video Music Awards. She was recently spotted donning the rapper's clothing line in her latest magazine spread.
In the April issue of Harper's Bazaar, Taylor Swift is shown modelling a t-shirt from Yeezy's new line.
Imma let you finish Harper's Bazaar, U.S. edition, but Australia has the best version of the magazine of all time. All time! Why is that? Because in the April issue, Taylor Swift wears a shirt designed by none other than Kanye West, who famously interrupted the country siren's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. It seems Christine Centenera, the HB Australia fashion editor who styled the shoot, consulted with West on his spring 2012 collection. She also styled Dion Lee's fall presentation, which included Kanye-designed heels. In the spread Swift can be seen rocking the West top under a sequined Maison Martin Margiela wrap. Some music and fashion blogs speculate Swift's decision to wear the t-shirt could spark an elevated interest in Ye's line.
While West hasn't exactly won the fashion world over yet with his designs, Swift donning the shirt certainly gives him a boost of cred. Fashion houses are dying to dress her or to get their clothes on her back, so this is a serious coup for the rapper and budding designer. That colorful pink, red, blue and black wrap draped over Swift's shoulders is not the West creation. In fact, it's a Maison Martin Margiela design. West's top is worn underneath. While the garment is somewhat obscured, his name is still listed in the shot credits, which is crucial. He should send Swift a pair of those pricey Zanotti heels he's selling as a "thank you" for wearing one of his pieces in a major fashion mag. (Pop Crush)
West recently premiered his new 2012 line and is showing off his collection at Paris Fashion Week in France.
Harder, faster, stronger, maybe just a little bit better. After a debut collection that was a critical flop last fall, Kanye West resumed his fashion career in Paris on Tuesday night, picking up right where he left off, with a spectacle of slinky dresses, leather pants that didn't quite fit, furry peplums, broadtail stretch pants, some souped-up go-karts and Kim Kardashian. Well, at least that was an improvement. (New York Times)
Earlier this year, Yeezy confirmed to various fashion reports that the line would be named DW, in honor of his late mother, Donde West.
"I appreciate everyone's support for my clothing line but I wanted to clarify a few things...," he tweeted January 4th.
"The name of the line is Kanye West not DW... The DW was a design element placed on the invite in homage to my mom : )"
"I really appreciate the fake DW twitter page but since it's not official I can't co sign any information on it." (Kanye West's Twitter)
