Slaughterhouse's Royce Da 5'9 recently provided fans with an update on fellow Shady Records labelmate Yelawolf as he recovers from a spleen injury.
According to Royce, Yela is currently still in recovery mode but healing up nicely.
"I have [spoken] to him, I spoke to him, I called him and checked on him. I think he stage-dove or something like that," Royce da 5'9" told MTV News of Yela's status when we caught up with the MC in Austin, Texas. "I don't know if people know this because Yelawolf is such a mild-mannered, laid-back kinda guy, but he gets real rowdy onstage and he doesn't mind putting his physical health in danger as well as the fans', which makes for a greater show. ... He's well, he's doing well -- He just had to cancel a couple of shows just so he could get right." (MTV)
A few days ago, Interscope Records released a statement revealing the spleen injury.
Now, it has emerged that the Alabama native ruptured his spleen, according to a press release. The statement reads, "Interscope Records recording artist Yelawolf is still recuperating from a ruptured spleen suffered earlier this month." Yelawolf was due to perform in the Shady Records showcase at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Texas on Friday but he has pulled out as he continues to recover. (Star Pulse)
Last week, the rapper's manager released a statement speaking on Yela's condition.
Yelawolf was admitted into a hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday (March 2) night, forcing him to cancel a scheduled March 6 performance at Saint Andrew's Hall in Detroit. But Kawan Prather, the CEO of Ghet-O-Vision Ent. (the production company Yelawolf is signed to along with Shady Records), said Yela's awaiting more details from the hospital, but that the Alabama rapper is doing fine and just needs some rest. "He's going to be okay," KP told XXLMag.com. "He just needs to get some rest. He goes hard at these shows and is taking some mandatory rest right now." (XXL Mag)
Concert promoter, Live Nation, initially broke the news of the Shady artist's hospitalization.
Yelawolf was admitted to the hospital Friday after a concert in Madison, Wis., reports concert promoter Live Nation. The hip-hop artist was scheduled to perform March 6 at Saint Andrew's Hall in Detroit. "He remains under observation for illness," Live Nation announced. "At the request of his doctor, the show will be postponed to a later date." Tickets must be returned at point of purchase for a refund.
