Weeks after making headlines for his association in an Arizona nightclub shooting he was scheduled to perform at, West Coast rapper Nipsey Hussle has opened up on what went down.
Claiming his music does not promote gun violence, Hussle sent his best wishes to the injured victims.
"Off the top it was a tragedy," he expressed. "I'm glad nobody died. I'm glad that everybody is making it. From what I understand, making a good natural recovery." He went on to say, "You know, I issued a statement out through my Twitter that was written by me. It was basically denouncing the whole situation. That's not what I represent through my music. That's not the fanbase that my music attracts. My condolences to everybody that was involved on the receiving end." (XXL Mag)
In early March, Clubhouse Music Venue issued a statement speaking on the shooting.
Tempe police are still looking for two suspects after Friday night's mass shooting at a Tempe nightclub. Fourteen people were shot at rapper Nipsey Hussle's show. No one was killed, but at least two were in serious condition. One man was arrested. In a statement, the Clubhouse Music Venue said it provided the same security it has been using for the past seven years following another shooting. The statement also said the last time Hussle performed at the venue, there were no incidents. (My Fox Phoenix)
Reports claim there were nearly fifteen injured victims from the incident.
Hundreds of concert-goers waiting outside an Arizona nightclub for a hip-hop show fled in panic as shooting erupted involving three gunmen, leaving at least 14 people wounded. Police arrested one suspect and were hunting two others. Two of those wounded late Friday night in the Phoenix suburb of Tempe were in serious condition, while the 12 others had relatively minor injuries, authorities said. (Boston Herald)
In light of the media craze, Nips released a statement disassociating himself from the violence.
"My deepest thoughts and sympathies go out to the victims and their families who were affected by the tragic event that took place last night in Arizona, and I pray for the speedy recovery for anyone involved. Contrary to current media reports, it's important note that these shootings did NOT happen inside a venue, concert, or show in which I was booked to perform, and at the time of the incident, I was in my hotel room."
