Cash Money Records' newly acquired rapper, Mystikal, cemented his position as a YMCMB artist by linking up with Birdman and Lil Wayne for the release of his- first music video as a Cash Money artist.
In Mystikal's "Original" music video, the former convict spares no costs in portraying what appears to be a rather lavish lifestyle
YMCMB rolls out the red carpet to welcome Mystikal into the family. The New Orleans rapper, who was incarcerated for six years, receives a lavish homecoming in the Gil Green-directed video for "Original," the first single from his Cash Money debut. He indulges in the spoils of being a Cash Money Millionaire, which include a multi-million dollar mansion, luxury whips, and fine women everywhere. Birdman, Mack Maine, and a skateboard-wielding Weezy rep for the team under a crystal chandelier. Mystikal's first album since 2001's Tarantula is due later this year and will feature appearances from Busta Rhymes and Rick Ross. "This album's gonna be well, well worth the wait. Trust me," he told Rap-Up TV. (Rap-Up)
The record was slated to premiere last December, days after his initial signing onto the Cash Money record label.
Birdman and Mystikal aren't wasting any time with their new allegiance. The two are putting out "Original," Mystikal's first single, later on this evening via Funk Master Flex's Hot 97 radio show. According to their reps, Birdman and Mystikal have been sequestered in Miami's Hit factory recording a gaggle of records, including "Original." Besides The #1 Stunnna, the track features Lil Wayne. Around mid-December, Birdman officially welcomed the fellow New Orleans rapper to his label.
"It is an honor to get the opportunity to work with Mystikal, as we have a long history together. He is a great artist and his talent, combined with our hard work and strong team, is going to result in some of the best music of his career. We are expecting great work from Mystikal. Slim and I already have him in the studio working on his first album for Cash Money." (Statement)
Aside from Mystikal, Birdman has kept busy by inking deals with the likes of rapper Busta Rhymes and rap-metal crew Limp Bizkit.
"I want to get it out there soon, as soon as we can," Durst, who finished an Australian tour with Limp Bizkit during the weekend, told Billboard.com. "The song is already done for the most part. I've got a couple little things I might poke around or punch in on my verse. And I want their guys to take a crack at the mix. I mixed it myself; I think it sounds very big, but I really love the way their guys are mixing stuff, so I want to see what they can do with it." (Billboard)
