West Coast rapper Kreayshawn has reportedly fallen victim to hackers, now coming forward to denounce racist and offensive tweets posted on her Twitter page this week.
Offended by the hacking, Kreay even said she may abandon Twitter.
"I really hate twitter that's why I blocked my tweets. Damn near bout to give my account up to my record label and have them tweet for me.," she tweeted March 8th.
"just woke up. i would never say some wack ass shit like that.. their fake retweets. THEIR FAKE RETWEETS."
"I can't believe people would believe I tweeted those things. I would never even think of sh*t like that. People just made that up."
"Its easy to make it look like some tweeted something by putting a "RT" infront of it. Don't we already know twitter is full of fake rumors?" (Kreayshawn's Twitter)
The hacked tweets, now deleted, landed on her Twitter page last night (March 7).
On Wednesday night, Twitter exploded with racist retweets, allegedly sourced from the Gucci Gucci rapper's account. The tweets included jaw-dropping statements, like "Sometimes I wish slavery was still goin' on," "I don't need black fans anyway. Y'all don't buy albums" and "Looks like a fucking Popeye's just opened up in my mentions. You monkeys got your taxes back already?" Unsurprisingly, the retweets quickly poured across the Internet, and were trending within hours. In the morning, an equally questionable apology made the rounds: "Gm guys, last nite hacked my page, i am sorry, i love FRIED CHICKEN! Forgive me." (Huffington Post)
Last November, the West Coast rapper admitted how addicted she was to Twitter.
"I'm always on Twitter. I'm on Twitter too much," Kreay said in an interview. "I have people who follow me and that are my fans like, 'I'm a huge fan of Kreayshawn but she really needs to stop tweeting so much.' You know what I'm saying? I over tweet sometimes. But you know, you go through things, you over tweet, we get into our mind frame and kind of let the keyboard turn into your head if that happens. I'm good, I'm good. My online presence, I must say I'm very skilled at the electronics and things. Freestyling tweets. That's what I do. Yes. You gotta do it man. Twitter cypher. ... Facebook is like your living room, you invite your friends and your family into your living room, you show them photos and update them with family things and places you're going. Twitter is like a street where all these motherf*ckers are just standing out there screaming at the top of their lungs. [Which do I prefer?] I like the streeeets. [laughs]" (Daily Dot)
Outside of social networking, Kreay recently spoke on her upcoming debut LP.
The album is almost finished, she says, and features a number of styles of music -- from Baltimore club music to New Orleans juke. "I don't really like ever doing the same thing twice," Kreayshawn says. "Unless it was really good. Like if you eat somewhere really good, maybe you'll go eat there twice." The inevitable question is whether she can turn her "Gucci Gucci" fame into something long-lasting. Or whether she'll end up another person of the viral video era whose 15 minutes of fame came and left. "If the album doesn't have a hit," Kreayshawn says. "I don't care. I'm mobbin.' I'm mobbin' real hard. If something goes wrong, I'll just take all my money and sell hella drugs. Then make a song about that. Then I'll have another hit." She pauses for a second. "I'm just playing. Kinda." (Fres Nobee)
