[SOHH highlights a hot single each week and offers a unique look at a how record came together. After Gensu Dean explained the Large Professor assisted track "Forever", Tech N9ne reflects on his "Interlude" verse off of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV.]
I write my sh*t how I want my emcee to sound. That's what I do and I think it's just catching up to people. They see me on the BET Cypher and my fans are getting younger and younger.
I always had a young audience but they got younger when I got on Tha Carter IV. It was like 10-year-old girls like, "I love you on Tha Carter!" Whoa. I'm on that track talkin' big sh*t. I'm talkin' about taking ecstasy and everything, death and everything ... it's like these little young kids liked it. I said "soowoo business" and everything and all these kids know it. It's like, "Where y'all daddy at?".
I got alotta favorite rappers who spit on that Carter IV beat. Nas is one, you know what I'm sizzlin? Bun B is one of 'em. Andre 3000? I didn't think that would ever happen, me on a track with 3000. So much love to you Lil Wayne
I hit Wayne like every other week, like "Thank you, brother." His music got these b*tches on the bus gettin' undressed, it's so crazy. It's alotta MC's on that beat. Everybody he put on there, he knew what he was doing. Even Shyne. N*ggas would love to hear Shyne again and they got to hear him.
There's alot of royalty on that track and I'm just happy to have been a part of it. You feel me?
Like many underground rappers in the Midwest, Tech N9ne specialized in bizarre hardcore rap and stood out in the late 90's as one of the few recognized rappers based in Kansas City.
