West Coast rapper, The Game, recently reflected on his summer 2011 R.E.D. Album debuting at number one and expresses little concern over the LP not hitting platinum status as of yet.
In Game's eyes, debuting atop his competition is reason enough to smile.
"We about to put out the last video for The R.E.D. Album. The R.E.D. Album exceeded my expectations and did well. No matter what an album comes out and sells the first week, it'll end up catching platinum in the long run, 'cause I definitely have a million fans out there somewhere. I don't know what they be doing the first week, but my albums always have legs. But just for that album to come out and be No. 1, that's all I wanted. So I got what I wanted. Last August, Game's R.E.D. Album nearly sold 100,000 copies in its opening week.
West Coast rapper Game's The R.E.D. Album debuted this week at No. 1. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the rapper's fourth solo LP has sold 97,900 units to date. Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne moved 94,200 records in its third week. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
To date, the LP has reportedly sold at least 200,000 units in the United States.
The R.E.D. Album also reached number one on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts. In its second week on the Billboard 200, the album fell to number 8 with only 39,000 copies sold. As of November 16, 2011, the album has sold 206,000 copies in the United States. (Wikipedia)
Currently putting together his upcoming F.I.V.E.: Fear Is Victory's Evolution album, Game has hinted at the next LP being his last through Interscope Records.
"You know Interscope/Aftermath, that's my label and I'ma hold it down for them forever," Game said. "I've been there for four albums, and I've got one more album before I'm a free agent. We're gonna try and turn that one around real quick, then I'll make the executive decision on what I'll do with the rest of my career. I might get into acting, I might go over to Cash Money. You never know." ("106 & Park")
