[SOHH highlights a hot record each week and offers a unique look at the track in Singled Out. After OutKast affiliate, Sleepy Brown, undressed his new "We Run The Night," single, Mississippi spitter David Banner explains his new single which features Big K.R.I.T]
I felt like in order for me to do this movement right I had to start off right and go back home.
We try so hard to impress everybody else, we end up walking off and leaving our own people behind and not even knowing it. So I decided to go back to Mississippi. You know, I'm so proud of Big K.R.I.T. and so proud of what he stands for just for the simple fact that he was the one that came out of Mississippi after [David Banner]. And 2 Chainz ... we both used to be down with Disturbing the Peace at one time, so his whole struggle and his whole movement I've been a part of that. And K.R.I.T. is from Mississippi, so he is the homie.
He represents himself in his own way but we do have very similar views on not just music, but spirituality and the state of our people and the way that our people are represented. Me and him on this track was just such a dope mesh.
For this video, we actually went to Big K.R.I.T.'s block and his old school and just really get that feeling of Mississippi and I haven't done that in so long and I hadn't really realized that up to that point. But I even took it another level and went back to my area and shot all the new up-and-coming artists that are in Jackson.
