[With his new Fantasic Plastic album finally available for purchase, producer Lee Bannon gives you his top five reasons to cop this must-have LP.]
1. Get On My Level
I would say the first reason is because there's not too many people doing my lane of hip-hop. It's something with a little more substance than 85 percent of the rest of the music out there. I feel like a lot of stuff is recycled down and does not really hold any weight. I feel like it goes in one ear and out the other. On the other side of the spectrum, my music may seem like that too. But basically there's a lot of music out there aimed for partying but this is something that isn't just aimed for that. It's not just for the party life or going out to the club. This is more headphone music. This is head music. If you're a fan of Madlib, you'll like this.
2. Get Funky
You get to hear some of Del the Funky Homosapien's best rhymes in a while. If you're a fan of that, you'll love it. He was definitely the inspiration to make this album. The way I roll and having met him, he's definitely been a good influence like that. He just challenged me to get on another level and create on another level.
You get to hear the development in my music. If you've got my earlier stuff, then you've been seeing the transformation. It started off with straight beats and learning from the masters from DJ Premier or whoever. There's so many elements on this album. I felt the growth. My equipment developed and my knowledge on how to create developed. To be honest, there was a lot of experimentation on here.
Another reason is Plug Research. They always make quality releases especially when it comes to going in and trying to do something that's a little bit more hip-hop. That might be a reason as well.
5. The Message
I would say check it out because of the actual content and the overall message. I don't want to be direct and give people what it is, but there's a message pretty much throughout the whole thing. The message on here is like a Quentin Tarantino movie. You don't really know what the exact message is, there's an undertone. I kind of want to leave that mystery out there to linger and have people interpret their own ways.
You Decide. Will you purchase Fantastic Plastic?
