Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz recently spoke on joining rap star Drake's upcoming spring tour, Club Paradise, and explained why their 27-city run should be dubbed nothing less than elite.
In 2 Chainz's perspective, the star-packed line-up is nothing less than stellar.
Drake's spring tour, a 27-city U.S. trek that was announced on Thursday (Mar. 22), will include a who's who of white-hot hip-hop artists as openers, with J. Cole, Waka Flocka Flame, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz and French Montana all joining the Canadian rapper. While the run is officially called the Club Paradise tour, 2 Chainz, the recent Def Jam signee formerly known as Tity Boi, tells Billboard that he has another name in mind. "I'm renaming this tour the Winners Circle," says 2 Chainz. "Everybody on the marquee is at the top of their game right now. Drake, of course, is killing them. And French, Waka, Meek, J.Cole and myself are having a banner year." (Billboard)
Waka Flocka Flame also briefly gave his input on the forthcoming tour run.
Meanwhile, Waka Flocka Flame -- whose next studio effort, "Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family," comes out June 12, while the MC is on the Club Paradise run -- says that the lineup came together fairly easily because of the personal bonds the rappers share. "All of us are good friends, and all of us just put it together," he says. "We're the new generation of music, of hip-hop, so why not do it?" (Billboard)
Last week, rapper A$AP Rocky credited his "Club Paradise" tour run for helping him enhance his stage presence.
"I learned how to, you know, like gain confidence, stage presence," Rocky revealed in an interview when asked what he has taken from touring alongside Drake. "Because honestly, before all of this, I honestly was partying with the crowd. It really wasn't me doing a show, it was actually me just performing. It's a difference because now I put on an actual show." (Buzzworthy)
The upcoming tour run is slated to officially kick-off in early May.
Drake has been cooped up inside for far too long, and now the Young Money standout is ready to breathe some fresh air into his Club Paradise Tour. On Thursday morning (March 22), Drizzy announced a 27-city amphitheater run that will begin on May 7 at the Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord, California. "I feel like this tour is coming at the perfect time," Drake said in a press release issued to MTV News. "It's taking place in the season that we all wait for, we're outdoors and you've got every single artist you wait to hear in the club on one bill ... that's Club Paradise." (Billboard)
