[With Eddie Murphy's new A Thousand Words film in theaters today, co-star John Witherspoon gives you his Top 5 reasons to get up and get your movie tickets ASAP.]
One reason is because Eddie Murphy took me off the road to go out and do this scene from the movie and I said, "Sure" and went with it. That's a big reason there. He got me off the road and got me a role in A Thousand Words. It's Eddie Murphy. He's funny on-screen and off-screen. I've worked with Eddie on a lot of movies in the past from Boomerang to Vampire In Brooklyn. Eddie and I go way back. I knew it would be good for me to do this movie. He came on the set and we had so much fun.
2. Hey Lady
Kerry Washington is in the film and that's another reason to go and check it out. I worked with her in Little Man and she's just unbelievable. I wasn't in any scenes with Kerry but you can see her. Having worked with her before, she's a great person and we've always had a good rapport. Kerry Washington is an excellent actress.
I would say another reason is because I nearly got hit out there with those cars. That was for real. It scared me to death. I almost got my a** kicked. They asked me if I wanted to get a stunt double for the scene I'm in and I said, "No, it can't be that bad." These guys were so good and I had glasses on but my eyes were open. I saw this bus coming and I had to keep telling myself, "Keep walking," and it kept getting closer so I told myself, "Keep walking." You'll see what I mean when you go to the movie.
4. Adult Swim
My kids love the movie. I think this is an adult movie but Eddie Murphy can really appeal to all people. Just look at all the movies he's done. A Thousand Words is for people young and old. Eddie is funny. He's only got a thousand words before he dies, so that in itself is funny.
5. Hollywood Stars
The last reason you should check it out is because it's got me, Kerry Washington, Eddie Murphy and a bunch of other stars in it. So you're seeing some black show business.
You Decide. Will you purchase some A Thousand Words tickets?
