G-Unit leader 50 Cent has offered his take on DJ Pauly D branching out with his own reality television show and what his overall impact will be on society.
In Fif's eyes, the deejay's new "Pauly D Project" show has the potential to become as popular as reality show "The Jersey Shore."
"Well, Pauly D's show is gonna be as -- I don't want to say more exciting than 'Jersey Shore' -- I'll say as exciting as 'Jersey Shore' to maintain the audience that 'Jersey Shore' had by itself," he said. "He has a lot going on right now, and they'll get a chance to go into his world, as far as his DJing and a lot of things he's actually doing. It's a lot of the lifestyle. Every college student in the world's gonna love this television show." (MTV)
According to reports, Pauly's spin-off will focus heavily on the music career.
The Pauly D Project finds the most likable member of the Sea-side Heights crew forging his own path in the world of disc jockeying. Opening with an introduction to Pauly's home state, and the new characters who will accompany the tanned one on his endeavour - including bodyguard Gerard (Big Jerry) Gialanella, wing-man Ryan Labbe, road manager Michael (Biggie) Morgan, and executive club promoter Jason (JROC) Craig - the show gradually expands to include jet-setting and A-list cameos, as his fledgling career takes him from a Vegas residency to a record deal and, eventually, a tour opening for Nicki Minaj and Britney Spears. Last January, the reality television sensation talked about linking with 50 to work on his upcoming album.
"Right now I'm working on my album with 50 Cent. Really excited about that because that's my passion. Music is where my heart's at. So, I'm gonna do some producing [and] come up with a compilation album with 50. I've always looked up to 50 my whole entire life. He's always been a mentor to me, 'cause I've been DJing and playing his music my whole entire life. So, the fact that we clicked when we met was amazing." (The Hollywood Reporter)
In early December, the G-Unit general opened up on taking a chance with the"Jersey Shore" reality star.
"When Pauly came by to see me, they had options. They had several places that they were going, and people that were interested in doing a deal with him. Obviously, the momentum from "Jersey Shore" was spun off into him being the first one to have his own independent series. They're moving places and DJing in front of bigger audiences, and getting ready to make moves internationally, where the DJ is the star, overseas. When I sat with him, I saw the opportunities we could have moving forward, with brand extension and packaging the music...I look forward to it. I call him "the bridge." He's going to be something between what you would get from a DJ Khaled or a DJ Drama and what you would get from David Guetta." (Rolling Stone)
The "Pauly D Project" premieres tonight (March 29) at 10:30 PM EST on MTV.
