G-Unit leader 50 Cent appears to be following in rap mogul Jay-Z's footsteps with reports claiming he is also heading down to the annual South By Southwest Austin, Texas music festival to perform his 2003 debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin'.
According to reports, Fif will take the stage during Shady Records' "Shady 2.0" showcase next week.
Shady 2.0 has officially announced the lineup for their SXSW concert. This year Shady fans are in for the show of a lifetime. 50 Cent will headline the event with a performance of his entire Get Rich or Die Tryin' album. Taking place on Friday night (Mar. 16), Sway will host the evening of hardcore hip-hop. Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse are also on the bill. Big K.R.I.T., School Boy Q, Action Bronson, Don Trip and more are also scheduled to perform. (VIBE)
Yesterday, it was revealed Young Hov would also be making his way to Austin, Texas.
South by Southwest may be known for highlighting everyone from up-and-coming indie bands to rock royalty's biggest players, but the festival is also known for flashing the spotlight on rap. Case in point: For the second consecutive year, Jay-Z will stop by South by Southwest. Last year, Jay-Z was a special guest at Kanye West's showcase, and now, he's claiming his very own performance. Although speculation as of now, reports claim Jay's "Renegade" collaborator Eminem could make an appearance alongside the rapper.
Rumors have been circulating that Jay might be cooking up a big event at the fest with Eminem, but nothing has been announced about Em's involvement. Last year's G.O.O.D. event was such a smashing success -- featuring John Legend, Mos Def, Pusha T, Big Sean, Kid Cudi and more -- that it wouldn't be a surprise if Jay and Eminem were working on something huge for this year's increasingly popular music and film festival. Last year, 50 talked about wanting his next solo album to outperform his acclaimed platinum-selling debut.
"Iv been working I'm recording a lot for this album. I'm gonna keep recording cause I want to top get rich or die trying.," he tweeted May 29th.
"You can be mad cause you have to wait but you will be happy when it comes. I want it to be perfect." (50 Cent's Twitter)
