R&B singer Robin Thicke is making headlines this week, however, it has nothing to do with his music-making as new reports claim he was arrested Friday (February 17) on a drug possession charge.
According to reports, Thicke was spotted by police smoking marijuana Friday afternoon.
Sexy R&B singer-songwriter Robin Thicke was arrested today on a drug possession charge in New York City. Police say they arrested the 34-year-old son of "Growing Pains" star Alan Thicke early this afternoon in Manhattan near Madison Square Park. Officers say they saw the singer smoking a joint while inside a black SUV Cadillac Escalade. He was given a desk appearance ticket and released, reports AP. (USA Today)
Inside sources have provided details on the unexpected arrest.
"He wasn't driving," a police source said. "He was sitting in the car. He was arrested and a small amount of marijuana was recovered on him." Thicke, 34, was in the Escalade with another person, the police source said, but Thicke was the only one arrested and then charged with possession of marijuana. The singer was amiable throughout the arrest, another source said. "He was taking pictures with the cops," the source said. "They were coming over to him and getting autographs." His arrest follows his performance Thursday night at the Nomad's Way gala to benefit educational initiatives in Kazakhstan, hosted by Sigourney Weaver at the New York Public Library. Thicke, 34, is a noted R&B singer-songwriter and has released five studio albums. He has also written songs and produced singles for music heavyweights including Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Christina Aguilera. The R&B star is most known for his run in the music industry penning hits and dropping his own platinum-selling records.
