Newly signed Def Jam artist 2 Chainz has revealed his steady grind over the past year has been quietly supported by Grammy-winning rap star and fellow labelmate Kanye West.

While staying mum on the details, Chainz revealed he already has joint Yeezy records in the vault.

"One thing that people may not know is that I've been working with Kanye West for the past year," 2 Chainz said on Wednesday during his appearance on "RapFix Live." "We have records together, we have ideas that we're planning on releasing to the world real soon. I'm tryna get my 'N in Paris' swag up. ... For the most part, when we started building our relationship, we found out we had more things in common than different from a musical standpoint. It's no secret that I came from the hustle background, from that trap, and it's no secret that he's maybe more of a hipster swag, backpack kinda guy. So I think it'll be interesting when you just drop that in the pot, in the blender, and see the outcome and results of some of that." (RapFix)

No stranger to working with Southern acts, Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em previously talked about putting in studio time alongside Ye.

"When I was in the studio with Kanye, when I was in the studio with Jamie Foxx--I'd just spit a verse and say, 'Yo, what you really think about that? Give me you honest opinion.' After I got that, I really found out that my sh*t hot, and people are not saying it just to say it. They really think it's dope....Kanye said my sh*t was dope, man. I played him my second single, it's called 'Speakers Going Hammer.' [Interscope Records CEO] Jimmy Iovine loves this record. He plays this record every day. So I played it for [Kanye] and he said, 'Those were some dope f*ckin' verses.' I said, 'OK, that's all I needed. [Laughs] I got the stamp.' (VIBE)

This week, Chainz revealed he is no longer on rap star Ludacris' Disturbin' Tha Peace label.

Although there's numerous rumors about his new label deal circulating on the net, 2 Chainz cleared up one thing with XXL about his current situation: He is no longer with Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace. "It's the Real University, Two Gun Gang, Street Executives. It's not DTP no more," he says. "I'm actually behind [Ludacris], he's still my homie. I just took another route as far as running my own company and bossing up. But on the other hand, I'm still working with him. He has an album coming out this year, as well." (XXL Mag)

In January, he discussed changing his rap alias from "Tity Boi" to "2 Chainz."

"I've been doing a lot of media runs up in New York lately promoting my CD T.R.U. Realigion and every single interview I do they like, 'What's up with the name change?' So this is the universal answer," 2 Chainz said in an interview, "I just came up with it yesterday over a big bowl of kush for breakfast. ... And so people ask me where the 2 Chainz came from; I tell them I always talk about jewelry and I always been saying 2 Chainz in a lot of my songs. But lately, like the last year or so, I've been saying it, introducing my records like '2 Chainz!' and kinda making it family friendly. However you wanna say it. ... I started noticing a change early in the year when I was going to the mall and young ladies would be yelling '2 Chainz' or whatever. So my answer is, when I did 'Duffle Bag Boyz' in '07, that was like my first [exposure]. Now this right here would be my second chance. You know like 2 Chainz, second chance. So I thought that that would have a little more substance." (Shade 45)
