Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky recently shared his input on the topic of homophobia and why people should loosen up with their stance toward gay people.
Proclaiming his love for women, Rocky questioned people's issues with gays.
"I don't give a f*ck about your business," ASAP Rocky said in an interview. "Man, if you're gay we can be friends. If you're straight, we can be friends. I'm not gay, I don't plan on being gay, I don't condone it and I'm not sayin' I'm against it. I really don't give a f*ck and I don't think anyone should care about what another man's preference is... unless he's interested, if you know what I'm sayin' ... Who gives a f*ck? --- I like women. I love women. I'm not going to not be your friend because you like men. As long as you're a great person and, aside from that, y'know, you don't bother me and make me uncomfortable, then let's be friends, dude. It doesn't matter. You don't see people for being gay. People need to leave gay people the f*ck alone. Like, who cares? If you still care about sh*t like that you need to just hang yourself like the rest of them KKK motherf*ckers. For real. Who gives a f*ck?" (Spinner)
The Harlem rapper also compared hip-hop to to other music genres which do not take sexual preference seriously.
"I'm not saying that hip-hop needs gay rappers or anything," Rocky added, "but they need to stop being so close-minded because that will just cause the genre to fail. Look at pop. Pop doesn't discriminate against people. Look at Lady Gaga, y'know what I mean? Who the f*ck makes the rules for hip-hop? Who the f*ck dictates who's cool and who's not? F*ck you. [Hate a person] because they're a thief or a bad person. Don't hate 'em for what they choose to do, because they make decisions on their own time what they choose to do. I don't care and it's like f*cked up that hip-hop is so retarded. They don't want to accept nothing." (Spinner)
In November, the New York emcee stressed his indifference to fans of all sexual preferences and colors.
"I'm respected by all the respected fashion blogs," he says. "It's all about diversity. I don't give a f*ck if you white, black, brown or yellow. I really just want to keep the peace. I really love people for who they are. I'm not gay or anything like that, but even gay people--they can be fans too. All the designer stuff I wear is made by gay people. I used to be an ignorant, homophobic cat. I didn't know any better...I was young. Now that I'm knowledgeable about life all this sh*t has made me a better person. I feel like the world can be a better place if we learn how to accept each other for who we are." (VIBE)
West Coast rapper Game recently gave his opinion on the gay community.
"I think there are several rappers that are in the closet and gay, and see those are the type of gay people that -- the only type of gay people that I have a problem with," Game said in an interview. "I don't have a problem with gay people. Like, Beyonce should've said, 'Who run the world? Gays,' because they're everywhere and rightfully so. Do you. It's a free country. Be gay, you can do that. Game don't have a problem with gay people....Game has a problem with people that are pretending not to be gay and are gay because the number one issue with that is that you could be fooling somebody and you could give them AIDS and they can die and so that in the closet sh*t is real scary. So, we've got to get into the real seriousness of it and it's just not fair to other people -- If you gay, just say you gay. Be gay and be proud." (Hot 107.9)
