[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After E-40 gave himself the title last week, Kendrick Lamar explains why E-40 does indeed deserve the SOHH Underrated crown.]

E-40 (SOHH Underrated)

The most underrated? Right now ... I would have to say E-40 doesn't get all the respect that he deserves.

A lot of people don't realize, that when you talk about Jay-Z and his longevity, you know, we have somebody on the West Coast that's been doing it for the same amount of time and is probably around the same age and is still going.

So I say E-40 is underrated. E-40 had Charlie Hustle: The Blueprint of a Self-Made Millionaire , that album right there came out in the same pocket of time as when I first stared to rap. So I always look at that artist and that particular album as having an impact because of what he did to the game.

So E-40 for sure.

Kendrick Lamar is a rapper from Los Angeles, California. As a member of a member of the hip hop collective Black Hippy, along with Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul, Lamar has several music releases including the critically acclaimed 2010 independent album, Section 80. He is currently wrapping up work on his next album and can be heard on the track featuring Gunplay titled, "Cartoon & Cereal."
