With his Def Jam record deal buzz simmering down, Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz is now focused on what the future has to offer including another big announcement.
As things currently stand, fans can anticipate more records and a solo release later this year.
"I'm excited about putting out new music. Fortunately for me I have so many features that's not out yet. I have features that's out and then my mixtape definitely has some more legroom on it," Chainz said in an interview. "Some songs that still haven't peaked. I don't like putting out music to confuse the consumer or to cause problems to my own campaign. So I got some really dope records. I'm just waiting on the right time to release them. ... Be looking out for a major release from 2 Chainz this year. Major distribution on Def Jam. And I'll be working with another artist. I'll be making a surprise announcement [about it] later on, [and I'll reveal] who I'm gonna be partnering up with. You a smart motherf*cker so I'm not gonna give you all the information you need. But it's going down." (Complex)
This week, Chainz also revealed he has quietly been putting in work with rap star Kanye West.
"One thing that people may not know is that I've been working with Kanye West for the past year," 2 Chainz said on Wednesday during his appearance on "RapFix Live." "We have records together, we have ideas that we're planning on releasing to the world real soon. I'm tryna get my 'N in Paris' swag up. ... For the most part, when we started building our relationship, we found out we had more things in common than different from a musical standpoint. It's no secret that I came from the hustle background, from that trap, and it's no secret that he's maybe more of a hipster swag, backpack kinda guy. So I think it'll be interesting when you just drop that in the pot, in the blender, and see the outcome and results of some of that." (RapFix)
In November, Grammy-winning rapper T.I. co-signed the fellow Atlanta hip-hop artist.
"I like Big Sean, yeah," Tip told DJ Skee in an interview. "I think it's going to be interesting to see and hear what artists like 2 Chainz and Future [make musically] and what they do. It's going to be interesting to see what they do. I like, the records I've heard, I've liked. I liked them. So now I just gotta pay attention and see where they go from here." (Skee TV)
No longer signed to Ludacris' Disturbin' Tha Peace, Chainz is now putting out new music through Def Jam.
lthough there's numerous rumors about his new label deal circulating on the net, 2 Chainz cleared up one thing with XXL about his current situation: He is no longer with Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace. "It's the Real University, Two Gun Gang, Street Executives. It's not DTP no more," he says. "I'm actually behind [Ludacris], he's still my homie. I just took another route as far as running my own company and bossing up. But on the other hand, I'm still working with him. He has an album coming out this year, as well." (XXL Mag)
