Hollywood actor/rapper Nick Cannon has opened up on getting hospitalized earlier this month in Colorado due to mild kidney failure and how much pain he endured through the experience.
Cannon claims his wife/singer Mariah Carey went against his wishes by getting a doctor to run tests on him, which resulted in a kidney failure diagnosis.
"Two days before New Year's (Eve) I started feeling this horrible pain in my back, I starting thinking maybe when I was boxing I got hit. . . . My wife, who was my angel throughout this entire thing. . . . She was like, 'You gotta go to a doctor' and I'm like 'No'. ... I thought I was good. The scariest part was when they said 'You can go home while we get these other tests back.' . . . They sent me home. . . . I got to my house and that's when I thought I was going to die... The pain came back twice as much and other stuff wasn't working and I had to go back to the hospital. ... I'm good. I've got to go back to the doctor a couple more times, but I'm fine -- I'm totally recovered." (SF Gate)
Prior to getting spotted at last weekend's 5th Annual BETS Honors ceremony, Cannon's publicist issued a statement on his recovery.
Nick Cannon is out of the hospital after battling what wife Mariah Carey called "mild kidney failure." In a statement Monday, Cannon's publicist Tracy Nguyen (WIHN) said he's now "resting and recovering at home" and thanks everyone who was concerned about him. She says he'll return to his live morning radio show, "Rollin' with Nick Cannon," on Jan. 17. (Associated Press)
Earlier this month, the comedic actor hit up Twitter to thank concerned fans and reveal getting transferred from Colorado back to his home state.
"Currently being transfered to a hospital in LA. Thank you all for all your love, prayers and concern. You know me... I will be a'ight," he tweeted January 4th. (Nick Cannon's Twitter)
Carey broke the news of her husband's medical problems days prior.
"This is us in the hospital - role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are. We're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C. We're doing OK but we're "straaaaaanded in Aspen". #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we're together, we're OK. I'm not trying to make light out of the situation because it's a serious moment that's very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers. LYM." (Mariah Carey's Blog)
