Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has confirmed recent reports claiming he had taken his love for skateboarding to the next level by launching his very own clothing line geared toward the culture in 2012.
Although brief, Wayne promised his skateboarding line would topple its competition in popularity.
"I do want to say that some things passed this weekend like the Agenda party was this weekend, my line got viewed there," Wayne said in reference to the clothing-based Agenda Trade Show. "[It's] my new line, Trukfit, in case you don't know about Trukfit. Look it up. T-r-u-k-f-i-t. That's my new clothing line. Trukfit, Truk the world. You'll hear about it because it'll be the best clothing line ever in the whole entire [world]." (Weezy's Sports Corner)
Details on Trukfit began circulating online around mid-December.
Trukfit, the new clothing brand from Grammy Award winning, platinum selling hip hop icon LIL WAYNE, will debut at Agenda in January 2012. The highly anticipated line of uniquely designed apparel was inspired by Lil Wayne's passion for skateboarding and quality street wear. Pulling influence from Lil Wayne's distinctive style and voice, Trukfit is made from quality fabrics and features bold graphics at a moderate price point. (Agenda Show)
In October, Wayne opened up about his love for the sport.
"I've researched, and I know everything about the culture. I know everything about who's who, what's what, who won what, and who's better than who, and who skates for what team, and I'm into it. I'm into it. And you know what, they respect me a whole lot. Everywhere we go, every city or state we go, we have a skate park booked for after the show. I go there, I skate till about sun-up, and seven times outta ten, there's usually a pro there. Or they're usually connected to some pro or on some pro team. And, you know, we take pictures, we skate, we session together. They respect me so much just musically, without skating, period. A guy told me the other day, he was like, "You know what's so crazy is like, a lot of artists say they skate, or a lotta artists say they pick a skateboard. But, you know, for the best to do it, it makes you a person that skates, it refreshes you, to remember why you picked up a skateboard." (GQ)
Over the summer, reports hit the Internet claiming Wayne travels witih his own skate ramp.
Lil Wayne has seriously ramped up his tour -- TMZ has learned, the rapper is practicing his skateboard skills on the road, traveling around with his own personal skate ramp ... in the back of an ESCALADE. Sources close to the rapper tell us, Weezy packed a portable quarter pipe into a trailer, pulled by an Escalade -- and according to sources, the tricked out SUV follows the rapper's tour bus 24/7. We're told Wayne rips it whenever he wants -- pulling over at random places on the road to squeeze in some much-needed board time ... and he's even hired a pro skater to coach him. (TMZ)
