Eclectic rapper Kanye West has set the record straight on the speculation surrounding his own clothing line and denied its perceived DW brand name.
Keeping in traditional Yeezy fashion, the clothing line's title will reflect his own name.
"I appreciate everyone's support for my clothing line but I wanted to clarify a few things...," he tweeted January 4th.
"The name of the line is Kanye West not DW... The Dw was a design element placed on the invite in homage to my mom : )"
"I really appreciate the fake DW twitter page but since it's not official I can't co sign any information on it." (Kanye West's Twitter)
The rapper's remarks come after a fake Twitter account began updating fans on information related to the burgeoning brand.
Despite the fact that many sites are reporting that there is validity to the @Dwbykanye Twitter handle, suggesting that Kanye West's line will be called "DW," the rapper has set the record straight, and informed us all that this is not true and that the Twitter handle was indeed a fake. "DW" refers to Donda West, his beloved mother who passed away in 2007. I think it's a beautiful personal touch, and I only hope his collection comes together. For now, we can all keep waiting for more info. (Stylecaster)
Last week, reports developed suggesting West moved to London to work on the brand.
Earlier in the year, Kanye West made his fashion debut at Paris Fashion Week, showcasing his first collection of womenswear. Unfortunately the collection was met with mixed reactions, with many believing that he should stick to his day job, while others believe that he could grow into a credible designer. But it seems that West is still keen on the idea of being a fashion designer and will not stop pursuing one of his many dreams. British newspapers have now reported that Kanye West could be set to move to the UK in order to keep his fashion career afloat. (Style Clone)
Over the fall, West debuted his fashion line at Paris Fashion Week.
West's opening look--and remember this collection is for spring--was a black leather skirt and jacket. It was soon followed by his single best decision: sexy silver python jeans paired with a delicate gray sleeveless top. The mistakes began to mount: A black leather dress that unzipped at the waist displayed only a passing familiarity with the curves of a woman's body. Necklines plunged so deep--to the waist, in fact--that a woman would have to keep double-sided tape handy to avoid indecency charges. And there were fur coats, fur trims, and even a giant white fur backpack. Did I mention that this was a spring collection? (The Daily Beast)
