Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has opened up on his take of leading the way for the most nominations at next month's Grammy Awards ceremony and said despite the honor, he feels slightly conflicted.
While appreciating the Grammy nods' significance, Yeezy dished out his overall issues with awards shows.
"I appreciate having the most nominations at the Grammies but I feel so conflicted by the fact that award shows sometimes are completely...," he tweeted January 4th.
"Good logic tells me smile Kanye... the world likes you again... red or blue pill? ... aaaaand Swallow lol"
"I wouldn't have the prestige I have if it wasn't partially for the Grammies validation and I honor that ... ....hmmmmm what to wear... here I go again... Yeezy the trend setter or complete fucking fashion victim ... the verdict is still out" (Kanye West's Twitter)
Last month, Ye offered his take on getting snubbed for "Album of the Year" honors.
"There's something I figured out earlier today, because you know, everybody came to me last night like, 'Congratulations!' because you know I'm leading, had the most Grammy nominations once again," Ye told screaming Chicago fans at his United Center concert. "Like we always do at this time. But, you know, people focus, they say, 'You ain't have Album of the Year or Record of the Year.' But I figured out though, that's my fault for dropping Watch the Throne and [My Beautiful] Dark [Twisted] Fantasy the same year. I should have just spaced it out a little bit more. But don't worry, because me and Hov gonna keep on making sh*t. It feels so good to be home." (YouTube)
Although he did not receive an "Album of the Year" nod, Ye still managed to secure the most Grammy nominations.
Adele is up for six Grammys including song and record of the year, for Rolling in the Deep, and best album, for 21. Rapper Kanye West leads the field with seven, while Bruno Mars and the Foo Fighters also have six each. Mars, also up for best song, record and album, said; "It feels incredible." British band Radiohead are up for five awards including best rock performance and song for Lotus Flower. Winners will be announced on February 12th. (BBC UK)
Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne also landed a handful of nominations.
Other leading contenders for the major music industry awards show include the Foo Fighters, also with six nominations, while Lil Wayne and newcomer Skrillex have five nominations apiece. The nominations for the top awards were announced during a televised concert in Los Angeles featuring performances by Lady Gaga, Usher and up-and-coming country singers The Band Perry. (The Guardian)
