[SOHH highlights a hot single each week and offers a unique look at the record. After NY rapper Mysonne dissected his "Scattered Thoughts," Dancehall star Cham discusses the success of his song "Wine."]
As we finished recording "Wine," I kind of knew it was going to be a hit.
I didn't expect it to get this much exposure on the other side of the pond, but I knew it was going to be big with the Dancehall crowd. Now we're getting calls from England. We're going to Canada tomorrow morning to premiere the video over there. I wasn't expecting that so soon, because nowadays Dancehall takes a while to stick and catch one and grow.
You just have a gut feeling with certain songs ... it can't be explained, but you just know everything is right.
The year has been good to me so far, I started out with the hottest song in Dancehall. The love has been crazy, on the Dancehall circuit, a song like this working is a no-brainier. But to see a site like World Star Hip Hop put up the video and after like 14 hours it had 100,000 views ... that for me shows that the fans out there that are not hardcore Dancehall heads are looking out for the music. The second single is called "Drop It." Basically, I just put two guns out there and let them blaze and both them songs have been doing well.
