[The N: Each week, SOHH asks entertainment personalities to name the most underrated emcees. After Lugz marketing director Rashaun Smith gave Redman props last week, EA Sports designer Sean Ramjagsingh crowns Nas SOHH Underrated.]
I really have to think about who I can crown SOHH Underrated. I obviously love my hip-hop and R&B music. I'm a huge fan of 2Pac and Jay-Z, but for underrated, I think I'm going to have to put Nas out there for SOHH Underrated.
He was always on the brink of super stardom level, like the Jay-Z's and Biggie's of the world. But then you've got guys like Kanye West that have come around and [became famous overnight]. I feel like Nas kind of plateaued a little bit.
I think there were some other guys that came, took the ball, ran with it and kind of blew by him. So then Nas started to slowly and slowly fall off the radar.
I'm a fan of Nas, going all the way back to [1994's] Illmatic. We were over there in Las Vegas for the [2007 NBA] All-Star game and I got to see him and his [ex-wife] Kelis perform. He took it to another level and I think the reason why I say [he's underrated] is because [while] he's so mainstream, he could have gone onto another level where he could be named in the same sentence as a Biggie, 2Pac or Jay-Z.
Sean Ramjagsingh is a designer for popular sports company EA Sports. He is mostly responsible for designing the annual NHL franchsie video games focused on the latest in hockey gameplay development. His latest work can be seen in the new EA Sports NHL 12 video game currently available on Playstation 3 and X-Box 360 platforms.
