[City of Dreams: Each week, SOHH asks entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After rap veteran Mysonne gave himself the honor, Swizz Beatz crowns former Ruff Ryders member Drag-On SOHH Underrated.]
I would say Drag-On is my choice for SOHH Underrated. I just feel like he never really got all of the chances he needed to be on the front street.
But when people hear him in his verses and people get a chance to see him doing his thing, it's always like, "Oh! I remember I used to love Drag!" That's why I have to name him the most underrated.
Another thing you have to keep in mind is that Drag is still young. His lyrical capabilities can put pressure on a lot of people out there. It's just an unfortunate situation but he's definitely underrated though.
Drag can rap on any flow, on any beat. That's why I loved when we were working on albums together. When we were doing "Twisted Heat" him and Twista kept changing up the beat from speeding it up to slowing it down.
Drag is just that type of artist who can flip it up like that.
Swizz Beatz is a producer, DJ, rapper and painter. At the age of 17, he gained attention in the hip-hop world through his friendship with rapper DMX. Grady Spivey and rapper Cassidy helped launch his label Full Surface Records. He is also the Creative Director over at Reebok.
