[SOHH highlights a hot single each week and offers a unique look at the record. After Jeezy's artist 2Eleven gave us the info on one of his latest tracks, Pill explains the track "New Clothes, New Shoes" off his upcoming mixtape, The Epidemic.]
Shooting that video was dope, man. Filmed it out here in Atlanta and it was very reminiscent of the days when I was actually going through those kinds of situations.
To show that visualization of Atlanta, the real parts of Atlanta, where guys are posted up doing what they do to buy some new sneakers or new clothes ... it was reminiscent of me standing on the block, selling drugs. There was a time where that was actually what I wanted, like, "If I could just get fly I would feel better about myself.
Whenever you can jump fresh, dope boy fresh, the girls like it. So I just wanted me some new clothes and new shoes.
I'm actually at a loss for the sample in that song myself [laughs]. I didn't even know it was a sample, it sounds familiar but I can't even put a hand on it. I just basically go through e-mails and whatever sounds dope I roll with it. I was basically rolling through my beat e-mails and I stumbled across this track and it was just dope.
