After country star Taylor Swift shocked fans during a recent Atlanta concert by bringing out their hometown hero, Grand Hustle leader T.I. explains how his surprise on-stage appearance came together.
According to Tip, Swift was the one who picked up the phone and made everything possible.
"I was pleasantly surprised and confused," T.I. said of receiving the phone call from Swift. "I was confused because I know it's a phenomenal opportunity, but being T.I. -- the Rubberband Man -- and Taylor Swift being America's Sweetheart, I had just gotten out of prison like two days [earlier] and all of a sudden my phone rings." "There were significant differences in a Taylor Swift show from a T.I. show," he said, clearly amused at the thought. "You could take the biggest of the biggest hip-hop artists -- even a Kanye West or Jay-Z show -- and their concerts or tours, they gon' be just a world away from a [Taylor Swift] show." (MTV)
Earlier this fall, Tip surprised Swift fans as her unannounced guest.
Rapper T.I. has joined country star Taylor Swift in a surprise duet at her concert in Atlanta. Toward the end of Swift's set on Sunday night, she introduced T.I. by singing the opening chorus of his hit song "Live Your Life." The packed house at Philips Arena screamed once he stepped onstage for the unannounced appearance and started to rap. The two Grammy winners stood side-by-side as he rapped and she sang a vocal part originally handled by Rihanna. The Sunday show was a makeup performance for a postponed July show. (Chicago Sun-Times)
At a separate show, Swift also snagged Grand Hustle rapper B.o.B. for an unexpected Texas performance.
Taylor Swift is earning her street cred one show at a time. The country sweetheart has already shared the mic with Nicki Minaj, Usher, and T.I., and last night, T. Swift brought out B.o.B during her "Speak Now" concert at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Bobby Ray surprised thousands of concertgoers when he jumped on stage to perform his hit single "Airplanes," with Taylor singing Hayley Williams' part. (Rap-Up)
No stranger to hip-hop, the country star showed off her love for the genre last summer.
Even if Eminem's lyrics are saying something like "I love you," he raps it in such an angry way that any affection is pretty lost. That's the way Eminem is, we know, but sometimes we would like to hear a softer side to his songs--and now we can! Cutie-patootie Taylor Swift decided to take out her inner thug and cover the hit song "Lose Yourself" during her show in Grand Rapids, Mich., but the gangster vibe didn't really last... T.Swift punctuated her performance with a random "Yo!" here and there, but that's about as street as the country crooner can get. Still, Taylor strumming her guitar as she half-raps, half-sings the lyrics is an adorable sight to see. It's also probably the nicest Eminem song we'll ever hear. (E! Online)
