Although Dr. Dre recently said he planned to take a music hiatus, the Grammy-winning producer recently linked with T.I. to work on some new tunes.
Discussing the hook-up, Tip said he developed in-studio chemistry alongside the Doc.
"Dre was here. He sent for me over to the spot. We really just turned up more than anything else. It was about creating chemistry," T.I. told MTV News while he was in Atlanta preparing for the New Year's Day release of the F*ck da City Up mixtape. "Of course we can get together, he got hot beats and I got dope rhymes, so we can always get together and make music," Tip said. "But for people to feel what we're sayin' and for it to sound like a party comin' through your speakers, you gonna have to create some chemistry. So that's what we spent more time doin' than anything else; developing that chemistry." (MTV)
A trailer of Tip and Dre working in the studio hit the Internet this week.
ATL meets LAX when T.I. links up with Dr. Dre in the studio in a new trailer for his mixtape F*ck da City Up, dropping on New Year's Day. Tip raps in the booth as the West Coast icon mans the boards in the black-and-white teaser. It's unconfirmed if the song playing in the background is their collaboration. Celebrate the new year with new music from T.I. "When da ball drop...We drop!!!! Out wit da old,in wit da TRUE!!!! Atown....Weeee Baaaaaack!!!!!" tweeted the King of the South. (Rap-Up)
After recently revealing plans to go on a music hiatus, G-Unit's 50 Cent offered his take on Dre's timeless music-making ability.
"Dre helped me a lot on this record. I went to Los Angeles, was working out there for a little bit. I was working on the Detox records, right. I keep saying to Dre, I'm like, "Yo, you don't have to invent nothing. All they want is a strong version of what you gave last time." They need a new version of that. It's like Sade. She goes away for six years, and then she comes back with a new disc. You go, I love this sh*t! It reminds you of the f*ckin' sh*t that she gave you before she left. There's certain artists that have that luxury. You could go away and still be interesting enough to come for people to want to hear that effort. Dre is like that. As I'm busy telling him that, I go, "Wait, maybe I'm bugging for some of the sh*t that I've been doing." You know what I mean?" (XXL Mag)
A few weeks ago, the Doc promised fans he would still continue working on Detox despite recently revealing plans to take an extended break from music.
"Well, right now I'm just taking a small break to come out and do some promotion with Beats but actually I'm getting back on it when I get home. It has to feel good," Dre said in an interview when asked about taking a break from music. (Time Out)
