[SOHH highlights a hot single each week and offers a unique look at the record. After West Coast rap veteran Ras Kass diffuses his "Holes In The Ozone" banger, Atlanta artist Roscoe Dash explains why his parties always lead to a "Good Good Night".]
Aw man, I can't remember how this track came together, it's been so long.
I've been a fan of the track's producer, Kane Beatz since he's been working with Lupe Fiasco and Lil Wayne and all these other people. I just really loved his sound and I finally got the opportunity to work with him and "Good Good Night" was one of the first records he played for me.
Man, I had to get on the record almost immediately.
I went in the booth and knocked it out man. I wanted to make something that was a feel good record. Something that would really motivate the college kids ... that's one of my biggest focuses, keeping these people motivated in college and stuff like that. So hopefully what I do keeps them amped up to do whatever they have to do on a day-to-day basis.
My project, J.U.I.C.E. is on the way and I feel like it's very long overdue. People have been on edge, waiting for me to put something out, so this is really me defining myself and putting out a project that defines me as an artist and a person.
