R&B singer Miguel has lashed out at not having his All I Want Is You debut album receive a Grammy Awards nomination at last night's televised nominees ceremony in Los Angeles.
While initially blasting the annual ceremony's decision to snub his debut, Miguel vowed to work harder heading into 2012.
"I'm F*cking Pissed Yo. I don't think I'm Gods gift to music but I know the Album or at LEAST Sure Thing should have been Nominated.," he tweeted early December 1st.
"All G. Ill Work Harder Then. BET." (Miguel's Twitter)
In 2009, R&B singer The-Dream went on a Twitter tirade against the Grammy committee for opting not nominating his Love Vs. Money album.
"GRAMMY Isnt it FUNNY THE BEST ALBUM OF 2009 DIDNT GET ANOMINATION for the second year strait," he wrote Thursday (December 3) morning. "LOVE VS MONEY GOT NO NOMINATION the last time this happen i had LoveHate out and in the category had written the singles on three of the... Albums ,This time once again ive written on two of the albums ,jamie and B and no Nomination on a whole album of of the shit that got....those albums considered in the first place. I AM BOTHERED KNOWING THAT THIS IS THE PATTERN OF a DYING industry not because of what was.....but what wasnt when i know clearly MY ALBUM BLONG there period......maybe its my label, maybe its just my ass kissing skills arent up.......to par ,whatever i helped change the sound into what the sound is and my peers vote against me on purpose to denie me the opprtnty .........but call first thing to get a Record. SAD. i wish this on no one else thats probably why we can live in a society and vote people to.......offices where they dont belong because a group of ignorant voters will elect a ignorant person. STOP THE HATING ASAP........................AND this aint NO KANYE SH*T..... and yes i am B*TCHIN." (The-Dream's Twitter)
A couple weeks ago, Young Money's Drake admitted no longer measuring his career on whether or not he wins a Grammy.
"Forget last year, because when I read up on the young lady that won, she did some incredible things. And if we're talking numbers, nobody's really achieved what Justin Bieber achieved as far as the earnings and just worldwide . . . he deserved it as well. But the one that really got to me was when I lost to "D.O.A." for "Best I Ever Had." That one to me was, like, really? Not to say that Jay-Z isn't the most incredible rapper and that "D.O.A." wasn't a good song. I just felt like they had an option to give me a Grammy for a mixtape, and they just didn't do it [laughs]. Because it goes against the grain of everything that is traditional. I don't measure my success anymore by the Grammys. I can't because I'll just end up crushed. And, not to be offensive, I just feel it's political. Would I love to win a Grammy? Sure. Will I win one after that comment? Probably not." (Billboard)
Miguel is best known for his J. Cole-assisted "All I Want Is You" hit.
Fresh off releasing his first album and opening for Usher, Miguel has been keeping busy off the stage. He hopes to bang out a few tracks for J. Cole to choose from, but for now, he's focusing on one particular record. "Actually, I've been working on something specifically for [J. Cole's album]," he told Rap-Up.com in January 2011. "He sent me something maybe a month ago." (Rap-Up)
