Fans hoping to finally get their hands on a full length Lil Wayne and T-Pain T-Wayne album may want to shield their eyes as the auto-tune star now claims the project is shelved.
While there may still be small hope of it coming back, T-Pain claims there are no longer discussions to put the LP together.
The "5 O'Clock" hitmaker also shed light on what happened to his highly-publicized collaborative album with Lil Wayne. "When [Wayne] got into his litte trouble, that was right at the peak of when we was like, 'OK, let's go. Let's do this now.' He finally had time, then he went to jail," said Pain, who recorded eight or nine songs for the project before it was scrapped. While he's still up for it, he doesn't think Weezy is interested. "Things happen and I'm pretty sure he's over the whole idea now. I don't even be bringing it up to him no more. I'm pretty sure he's way past that right now. He's doing big things." (Rap-Up)
Last March, Weezy said he still had plans to work on the project.
"I've had ideas to do an album with T-Pain. We've got the T-Wayne situation going, so Drake's a very respectable dude. He's like, 'I don't want to disrespect none of those situations, so I'm just going to wait 'til you have a real good moment to focus on you and I doing an album.' ... And then you know my obligations to the Like Father, Like Son albums with [Birdman aka] Stunna. It's like no disrespect to those. I don't want to clash with nothing." (MTV)
In November, Young Money's Drake revealed an effort to drop a collaborative project alongside Wayne had fallen through.
During an interview with XXL for the upcoming December issue, Drizzy explained that he and Lil Wayne have decided to put their proposed joint album on the back burner, maybe indefinitely, because he felt fans would compare the project to Watch The Throne rather than judge it on its own artistic merit. "Me and Wayne scrapped the idea of a collaboration album," Drake told XXL exclusively. "We just agreed that it would be looked upon as... It would be sort of this competition [with Watch The Throne]. I feel like it would get caught in this whirlwind of hype. [Wayne] agreed. We just said, 'If we do it, we'll do it down the line. But right now is not the time.'" (XXL Mag)
Pain recently collaborated with Weezy for his platinum-selling Tha Carter IV album.
"I think it's gonna be the outro," T-Pain reports. "Without knowing it, Wayne wrote a song called 'How To Love' and I wrote him a song called 'How To Hate'; we were in the same studio, but completely across the parking lot from each other and writing the songs at the same time. It was weird. I think he's starting out his album with 'How To Love' and ending it with 'How To Hate.' " And, T-Pain adds, "I've heard some of ('Tha Carter IV') and I gotta tell ya, Wayne has gone pretty crazy with his music -- crazy in a good way. This is gonna be an awesome album." (Billboard)
