With their new Baytl joint album in stores today, Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has defended his decision to hook-up with Bay Area's V-Nasty to record a full-length project.
Calling the collaborative effort unexpected, Gucci said V-Nasty's music ultimately lured him into the studio with her.
"A mutual friend introduced us [and] I heard some of her material and liked it, so we decided to collab," Gucci said. "A lot of people were surprised. A lot of people, when I told them, were interested in how it was going to sound like, asking me, 'How's it sound, man?' We got production from Zaytoven. People can expect some real good music. I think people are going to be surprised. Baytl by Gucci Mane and V-Nasty album is definitely a classic album." (XXL Mag)
V-Nasty recently revealed her admiration for Gucci Mane during her pre-fame days.
"I've been a fan of Gucci since Trap House. We had the opportunity to connect through mutual friends and when offered the opportunity, I didn't have to think twice. This album is all about having good, old-fashioned, hoodrat fun with friends." (VIBE)
Reports of the joint effort being in the works emerged online in late November.
