[SOHH highlights a hot single each week and offers a unique look at the song. After New York rapper The Kid Daytona explains why "God Is Good", ex-Little Brother MC Big Pooh talks about his new song "Make it Thru".]
"Make it Thru" is a joint I did with Joe Scudda. It's one of those tracks where we're just talkin' about personal experiences. Scudda speaks on his experiences growing up ... even though he grew up outside the city, he still saw some of the same things that went on.
With my verse, I discuss the same thing on a worldly perspective. The ills of the world are a subject that people avoid talking about, but I see it all. So I decided to speak on it.
The hook came built into the song by way of Kobe, an artist that's with the song's producer, DJ Khalil. He's a very talented guy, he's done hooks for guys like Snoop Dogg.
It's funny because Joe selected himself to be on this song. When I got the track, I was in the studio playing it back, he happened to walk right in and was like, "Yo, I want in on that."
Big Pooh is a rapper from North Carolina. Formerly of the rap group Little Brother, his solo album, "Dirty, Pretty Things," is available now.
