[With the new release of his Battle Rap Stars smartphone app available nationwide, Houston's Paul Wall gives you his Top 5 reasons to use the tool to aid with your emceeing skills.]
1. Like It's My Last
I guess the first reason is because this is the first app of its kind. There's no other app that's like this. When the opportunity came about, I didn't really understand how it was possible to do it. I thought, "How can you judge a battle rap?" It's got the same kind of concept as those karoake games on the Playstation and Nintendo Wii. It's got the same type of concept. When they approached me about it, I was excited. I was a little skeptical about how it was going to be. It's crazy because I'm not known for battle rapping, [yet] I felt that was an even bigger reason for me to be involved. It goes to show you that this is for anybody. It's not just for battle rappers. Mistah F.A.B.'s [featured] on there and he's an incredible battle rapper. I've never really done a battle rap before, so this was really my first time getting to throw it down [trying it out] and it was a lot of fun.
2. Pot Of Gold
The second reason is because it's a big step [for] hip-hop and the reason why I wanted to get involved with it. It's a great step [for] hip-hop in the digital world. Hopefully this will inspire future game makers and app makers to do other hip-hop related games and apps. I think this is a really big step for hip-hop and it was much needed. After this, who knows what else will be next to come. There might be a battle deejay app or something to test your skills. I'm not sure how you would do it on an iPhone but then again, I didn't know how you could do battle rapping either. This is going to spark something for the next generation.
3. Lose Yourself
The third reason is because it's fun to do. It's something fun that you can do, just battling rappers. If you ever wanted to be a battle rapper then here's your chance. It's fun to do. You can practice your skills, practice your delivery or whatever you need to. A lot of people might not have the courage to do a battle rap in person but they can get this app and build up the courage. I think anybody who looks at the game and thinks, "Oh, this is going to be easy," I don't think anyone is going to be able to beat it on their first try. It's going to take them a few tries.
4. Dollar For Your Dream
The fourth reason is because of its price. Its very cheap and inexpensive. It's about 99 cents. 99 cents isn't too much. We didn't want to charge $5 or $10. It's only 99 cents so that was very important to me.
5. And You Know This, Mannnnnnn
And the fifth reason is because it's Paul Wall's app. What more do you need to know?
You Decide. Will you buy Battle Rap Stars?
