Rapper-turned-actor Will Smith has once again linked with his former music sidekick and "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" recurring cameo star DJ Jazzy Jeff for some new music.

Although still in the early stages, Jeff claims they have begun clocking in studio time together.

"He came down like two weeks ago and was like, 'Yo, I wanna get back into the studio, and we just knocked out some stuff," Jeff told XXL. "I just think more than anything there is no set pattern, no set plan, but we just wanna go into the studio and see what we come out with. If I can get it back to the way we used to make music, you know, it used to be just me and him in the room. You don't need no entourages and cameras and all of that and see what happens. He hasn't decided exactly what he wants to do." (XXL Mag)

Jeff also said Smith's success as a blockbuster actor has taken him away from making music consistently.

"Will has never not wanted to do music," Jeff shared. "When you're pretty much the biggest movie star in the world, the movie people don't want you to do music 'cause you ain't making $50 million off of making music. From a financial perspective, movies is where it's at. And it's not like his heart is not in the movies, but he's always wanted to do some level of music." (XXL Mag)

The Hollywood star's last solo effort hit retail outlets roughly six years ago.

Smith's debut solo LP, Big Willie Style, also appeared in 1997, notching the hits "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It," "Just the Two of Us," and "Miami." Shortly on the heels of his first box-office disappointment, 1999's Wild Wild West, he returned with the album Willennium. It also fared poorly, compared to Smith's previous material, and occasioned the release of a (slightly) more artistic record, 2002's Born to Reign. It also failed to live up to expectations, and Smith's next record, 2005's Lost and Found, was a sobering album. (All Music)

Along with music, Smith was spotted filming Men In Black III over the summer.

During filming Will also received a visit on set from rapper Jay-Z. The chart-topper - real name Shawn Carter - was spotted laughing and joking with the star as they filmed scenes for the blockbuster in New York's Battery Park. Will recently announced that Jay-Z is teaming up with his production company Overbrook Entertainment to develop and produce films. (Global Grind)
