[With today marking the launch of VooDoo Fest in New Orleans, Bay Area six-man DJ crew The Bangerz talk about what they expect to gather from their three-day adventure in The Big Easy.]
We just want to go out there and show them what we're about. We want to show everyone at the VooDoo Experience where music is going. We want to show them where live performances are going. We feel like what we're doing is pretty progressive. It's all about showing where the music is going. We like to think we're very forward-thinking and so we want to show everyone who comes out the direction. -DJ Ngo
Everyone has seen our music from the [dance crew] Jabbawockeez and so the VooDoo Experience is going to give us an opportunity to show people, "Hey look, this is The Bangerz." We want to definitely put our sound in people's faces. -DJ Squareweezy
I just hope that we're able to touch the crowd out in New Orleans and kind of bring our sound out that way too. Hopefully being that it's our first time out there performing, we'll be able to meet other artists from the area that are going to want to collaborate with us and we can spread the sound out there even further. -DJ Goldenchyld
We have homies that are going to be performing at the VooDoo Experience as well. Mike Helms will be out there, Z-Trip is going to be performing and they're good friends of ours. Odd Future is definitely up there as guys we want to peep. We want to check out Kreayshawn performing out there too because she's from the Bay area. The Meters are playing too. That's gonna be dope and it's gonna be crazy. -DJ Replay
I think Snoop Dogg is going to be fun. Girl Talk is gonna be hot too. You know there's gonna be mad girls over at Girl Talk's set so I'm gonna be feeling on some booty. Social Distortion is coming back together so I'm excited about that. It's going to be cool to stumble upon all of this with everything that's going on. -DJ G-Wrex
As the only 6-man DJ and production team to not only make music together, but perform as a whole, The Bangerz have been steadily gaining fame through more than 15 years of experience. With numerous DJ titles under their belt, including the 2001 DMC Regional Champions and 2000 ITF Western Hemisphere Team Champions, they were the first DJ group to utilize a 12-turntable team routine that transcended gimmicks - a feat that turntablism had never witnessed before. This eclectic DJ and production team has experience in every component of the music game from owning 17 Hertz - one of the most successful studios in the Bay Area, to producing hits and DJ-ing with some of the world's greatest.
