Country star Taylor Swift has come forward to speak on her latest demonstration of hip-hop appreciation by appearing onstage alongside hip-hop star T.I. earlier this month.
Taylor said she takes pride in being a hip-hop head despite her country pop music appeal.
"I'm a huge hip-hop fan, and it's been so amazing to have so many incredible artists come out and to get to sing the hooks on their songs that I've been blasting in my car for the last couple years," Swift explained in an interview. "It's been awesome. I couldn't have asked for more amazing special guests on this tour, and we're not finished yet." (MTV)
She also opened up about bringing out T.I. as a surprise guest during an Atlanta show.
"Well, I called T.I. the night before the show, so I felt like [since] it's such short notice that [he wouldn't do it with me], and he's just like, 'Hey, yeah, sure'," she recalled. "And it was just amazing. I was so excited 'cause I'm such a fan and I thought, 'This is such short notice, this is so ridiculous', that I'm asking him to do this the night before. And he's like, 'I'll be there'," she continued. "And he showed up for sound check and we were all just so star-struck." (MTV)
A few weeks ago, Tip surprised Swift fans as her unannounced guest.
Rapper T.I. has joined country star Taylor Swift in a surprise duet at her concert in Atlanta. Toward the end of Swift's set on Sunday night, she introduced T.I. by singing the opening chorus of his hit song "Live Your Life." The packed house at Philips Arena screamed once he stepped onstage for the unannounced appearance and started to rap. The two Grammy winners stood side-by-side as he rapped and she sang a vocal part originally handled by Rihanna. The Sunday show was a makeup performance for a postponed July show. (Chicago Sun-Times)
No stranger to hip-hop, the country star showed off her love for the genre last summer.
Even if Eminem's lyrics are saying something like "I love you," he raps it in such an angry way that any affection is pretty lost. That's the way Eminem is, we know, but sometimes we would like to hear a softer side to his songs--and now we can! Cutie-patootie Taylor Swift decided to take out her inner thug and cover the hit song "Lose Yourself" during her show in Grand Rapids, Mich., but the gangster vibe didn't really last... T.Swift punctuated her performance with a random "Yo!" here and there, but that's about as street as the country crooner can get. Still, Taylor strumming her guitar as she half-raps, half-sings the lyrics is an adorable sight to see. It's also probably the nicest Eminem song we'll ever hear. (E! Online)
