[SOHH highlights a single each week and offers a unique look at the song. After The Away Team producer Khrysis dissected the science behind Phonte's "Everything is Falling Down," rap newcomer Marcus Manchild tells readers why it's time to "Get Low".]

Shout out to T.A., the song's producer. He actually produced every track on my Preseason 2 mixtape. We went in the studio and worked hard, just kinda finding myself [musically], you know what I mean? With Preseason 1, I just got on beats, this time around, I'm just being me and letting people know who Marcus Manchild is as a lyricist and as an artist.

The way the track "Get Low" came together was like this: Big K.R.I.T. was in Houston; he heard the song and loved the track ... he got on the hook quick. He had heard about me through some stuff and I was definitely a fan of his, so we connected at a mixer at SF2 [Hip-hop clothing store in Houston]. It was the perfect time to get together and get some music done, and we did it. After that was done, me and [AMG CEO] Boston George were thinking, "Sh-t, who else we gonna put on here?"

So we called up Slim Thug and them. Slim called L.E.$. and they came through and both got on it. I rock with L.E.$., so listening to the track and how it all came together ... it was smooth. People are rockin' with "Get Low". The reaction surprised me because I didn't know how much people were gonna really connect to the music. But when they heard it, I noticed people was really f*ckin' with it. That's gonna be a huge song. I hope and pray that it will be.

Shout out to K.R.I.T. We're part of the Smoker's Club Tour together with Method Man. That's just a blessing right there, the right people got in contact with each other and made that happen. I'm just happy to be on the tour. My intention is to make sure that if I didn't have a fan, to grab a fan out there and they'll know who I am before I leave.

Marcus Manchild is a 22-year-old rapper from the Southwest side of Houston, Texas.
