[SOHH highlights a single each week and offers a unique look at the song. After Syleena Johnson gave the scoop on how she got up with Tweet for their "Angry Girl" duet, producer Nitti Beatz and rapper 2 Chainz explain how 2011 BET Hip-Hop Award Show host/comedian Mike Epps got everyone together for his rap song "I Hate Myself".]
Nitti Beatz: Mike Epps is a good friend of mine, and pretty much what happend is he called me up one day and told me he was looking to do a little record and wanted to know who were two of the hottest up-and-comers right now. So I told him Future and 2 Chainz.
I did the beat, then sent it to Mike. He liked it, went in the studio and recorded it. Next thing you know, I put 2 Chainz and got Future on there ... Mike Epps is a comedian and an actor and stuff but he loves rap music. He's always freestyling when I talk to him; he's just having a good time with it.
2 Chainz: I usually have a protocol I go through but certain people know they can call me up for different things because I really try to prioritize things that I do. Nitti called me up and said he needed the song done by a certain time. He didn't really know how to get in touch with Future so I took it from there and just tried to make it happen.
I didn't know how serious [the song] was gonna be, but when I do my thing as far as music, I don't ever slack ... the song could be called whatever and I'm still gonna do my thing as far as laying down verses.
