Ahhhh, the compilation album. Sometimes used to feed the hunger of anxious rap fans dying to hear some of their favorite rappers team up to form the perfect storm, sometimes used to help push some of rap's lesser knowns into the public eye. Either way, along with mixtapes, freestyles and drug charges, the posse cuts are one of those phenoms that help keep rap interesting.

G.O.O.D. Music boss Kanye Westrecently announced some pretty cool news: His squad has a compilation album that is not only in the works, but coming soon. Reports of this project were recently discussed by G.O.O.D. artist Pusha T:

"Oh man, I think its gonna be serious," he said of the project. "I was part of four joints thus far. I don't know where they gonna land or who's gonna be on them, 'cause everybody's doing so much. [The] 'Watch the Throne' [Tour] starts in a few days; all of that was gong on, rehearsals. I came up to the city and it was some joints that I [heard] and was like 'Hey, I need this.' I didn't leave. I stayed and did them. I don't know who else came up to the city and how Kanye is gong to maestro who gets on what, but I think it will... it will probably work a lot like his album. That album, [My Beautiful] Dark Twisted Fantasy, it was one of them things where he let people do them and whatever fit, fit." (XXL Mag)

Nice. This is the kind of things many rap fans live for. It also got us thinking about a few other memorable compilations that have been released:

Ruff Ryders, Vol. 1

Remember this joint? Aw man, too many hits. Jadakiss, Styles P. and DMX damn-near carried the album, but even spitters like Drag-On came through and murdered tracks. Hell, Jay-Z had his own track on this joint and he wasn't even part of RR.

The Dynasty Album

Now this is a funny one. Some people regard it as a solo disc by Hov, others throw it in the "compilation" category. One thing is for certain: From the classic intro, to songs like "This Can't Be Life" and "1-900 Hustler", everybody was rockin' with this album.

Diplomatic Immunity

Hell yeah n*ggas. C'mon, this CD had that sped-up soul sampling thing runnin' all through it. And with Cam and Juelz at the forefront, this sh*t got mad love in the stereo by people everywhere.

These are just some of a few of the hottest compilation albums ever. Of course, there are a few others. So tell us -- what team you got as having dropped the GOAT compilation CD?
