[With the new Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One video game now available nationwide, Insomniac Games studio director Chad Dezern envisions rap stars 50 Cent, Kanye West and Jay-Z depicting characters in the game.]
I think 50 Cent would have to have his own version of the tricked out spacecraft. I just really picture him with this amazingly designed spaceship that he's flying around in. Maybe he could kind of be like a mentor figure sometimes. He could spin his words of wisdom to Ratchet & Clank, sort of helping them on their way [through journeys].
Weapons are a really big part of the Ratchet & Clank series, so I feel like Kanye West [would be] part of Gadgetron, the corporation that's making weapons. [He'd be] a designer that works there. I see him dropping a new amazing weapon every nine months that everybody's gotta get their hands on and has to have. Kanye would be so good at collaborating with people to make it.
Jay-Z's like the intergalactic mastermind that's bringing everybody together. His parties and plans for the galaxy are revered. All of our characters would come together with him. He makes the most amazing things happen just by working with other intergalactic heroes.
I've been [working] with the Ratchet & Clank series since the very first one [released in 2002]. I think the reason it's been so successful and lasted so long is because we still love making these games and the players love playing it. We've never once thought, "Oh we should make a Ratchet & Clank game just to cash-in." We had these ideas that we couldn't wait to just get into the game. I think that's what's really fueled the series.
