SOHH Whatcha Think: Irv Gotti Wants To Run Def Jam: Do YOU Think He's The Right Man For The Job? [Click Here & Speak]

Believe it or not, Irv Gotti was that n*gga once upon a time. He had Ashanti cranking out hits and the now incarcerated Ja Rule dropping smash after smash single for dangerously in love thugs that prefer a little gunplay with their love songs.

Times change though. Murder Inc. is all but a memory, that RnB gangsta music has faded away and well ... the last time Irv was really gettin' shine was on a Vh1 reality show.
So like many, I was surprised to hear that Gotti was interested in running Def Jam, one of the most popular labels in rap music. Don't get it twisted: Irv's got an eye for talent, as he was mixing it up with Rule, X and Jigga waaaaay before the hood was checkin' for any of 'em. But president of Def Jam? That's one hell of a promotion.
Should we take Irv's request seriously? Well let's see: According to Def Jam's Executive Vice President,No I.D., Gotti was purely making statements based purely from his own opinion.
"I know here he's coming from. Everybody got an opinion about it. I'm just there to do my job, to be honest," No I.D. said in an interview. "He's just strongly stating his opinion, and there are some facts in it and there are other parts to this business that have to do with how things be the way they are...I can't say [if he's the man for the job]. That's what I mean by I won't get into whether he can or can't because who's to say who can and can't? It would be cool to have somebody in that position, but me, I'ma just stay in my position and do the best that I can do for music in general." (WGCI)
Maybe we should take it as serious as No I.D. does.
Even Roc Nation MC Jay Electronica took time from his mental breakdown on Twitter to show support for Gotti's presidential bid via Web.
"If Irv Gotti is on Twitter, Im down to help you campaign to achieve your spoken goal of becoming the def jam president" (Jay Electronica's Twitter)
That's cool that Jay Elec is down to campaign for Gotti, but now we'd like to know what you think: Could Irv take the lead at Def Jam and handle the job?
As you ponder on that, take second and peep this very short snippet of a song by Wale and Kid Cudi:
